Celtics

Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum each scored 30 points and the envious Boston Celtics stopped MVP Nikola Jokic en route to route the Denver Nuggets 124-104 Sunday night. The Celtics shot 57.3% from the floor and finished 19 out of 40 from beyond the arc. He also hit all his 11 free throws. Jokic lost 14 shots in the first half and scored 8 for 23 from the floor for 23 points.

“Materiality,” said Celtics coach Ime Udoka. “He had 12 in the first quarter, four in the second and seven in the rest. He was very comfortable early on, it gave him a lot of air space. It’s mixing up the look, keeping her off balance, switching up matchups and giving her a different body.” Jokic, who has a statistically even better season a year ago, said the loss was not on any of his teammates.

“Overall, he had a really good defensive game and I had a really bad offensive game,” Jokic said. For a time, Tatum was brimming with chants of “MVP” instead of Jokick at the Ball Arena. Tatum said, “It’s a great feeling. “You get it at home, hopefully, but when you travel and you see all the Celtics jerseys and T-shirts and hoodies and hear them chanting for you on the street, it’s an incredible feeling. “

Prediction

The Boston Celtics are traveling to the mile-high city to take on the Denver Nuggets in a matchup between two teams with championship ambitions. The Boston Celtics are having a tough campaign so far. There are rumors of possible unrest between the players. Under rookie head coach Ime Udoka, the Celtics are fifth in the East with a 43–28 record.

However, it looks like they have turned a corner, having won eight of their last ten matches and posing a legitimate threat to other teams in the Eastern Conference. He has a 24-12 record at TD Garden this season and will once again bank on Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown to come up with the stuff. Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets are sixth in the Western Conference standings, with a record 42 wins and 29 losses as they have won 20 of their 33 games at home this season.

Superstar Nikola Jokic continues to deliver impressive performances as the current MVP continues to be the driving force for the Nuggets and his hopes of going deeper post season rest on his shoulders.

Clippers

DENVER (AP) Nikola Jokic returned from a rare poor shooting performance, scoring 30 points to guide the Denver Nuggets to a 127-115 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night.

It was a performance from his supporting cast that fired coach Michael Malone, who smiled as he scanned the stat sheet and saw that all five starters plus reserves Bones Highland and Austin Rivers had scored in double digits.

“I’m very happy,” Malone said. “Yes, Nicola is an MVP, but this nine-game team needs everyone to step up their game and take the pressure off Nicola every night.”

Denver lost four of six, including a 124-104 home loss to the Celtics on Sunday night, in which Jokic missed 15 shots and blamed himself for the loss.

Against the Clippers, he was 9 out of 15 from the floor – he also had two baskets that were discarded – and sank 12 of 13 free throws. He also pulled off a game-best 14 rebounds for his 59th double of the season.

The only thing worse than facing Jokic is Jokic coming out of a bad game.

“Definitely,” said Clippers coach Tyrone Lew. “He was the MVP last year and has a big chance of winning again this year. We knew he would play well. Usually didn’t play two bad matches in a row, so he played well, carried his team. That’s to be expected. Needed.”

The Clippers, who took 24 points from Terrence Mann, lost their fourth game in a row. They have lost seven out of nine total. Marcus Morris Sr., Isaiah Hartenstein and Robert Covington each added 14 points.
