Demerius Anton Thomas (December 25, 1987 – December 9, 2021) was an American professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons, primarily with the Denver Broncos. He played college football for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and was drafted by the Broncos in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. With Denver, Thomas made four Pro Bowls and won Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers. He also played for the Houston Texans, New England Patriots and New York Jets.

Seizure disorder
According to an autopsy obtained by 9News Denver, the Fulton County (Ga.) medical examiner’s office has determined that former All-Pro receiver Demerius Thomas died from “complications of a seizure disorder.”
Thomas, 33, was at his Roswell, Ga., on December 9, two weeks before his 34th birthday. were found dead in the shower at the house located. A day later, Thomas’ family issued a statement saying they believe he died after suffering seizures while in the bath after dealing with repeated seizures since a car accident in 2019.

According to 9News, the medical examiner confirmed that Thomas suffered from a seizure disorder, but could not determine whether it was “the result of natural causes or head impacts” from his football career. The report, which was made public Friday, comes just a month after the New York Times reported, Boston University researchers posthumously diagnosed a former Broncos great with stage 2 chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
Dr Ann Mackie, a neuropathologist who studied Thomas’ brain, said seizures in July are not usually associated with CTE. The results of the autopsy supported this belief after a Fulton County medical examiner ruled that a Boston University doctor ruled that “there is no direct association between CTE and the development of a seizure disorder.”

Demarius Anton Thomas was a former American football player who was born in the United States. Thomas made his college debut against Notre Dame, recording a single reception for nine yards. He signed a one-year contract with the New England Patriots on April 16, 2019. Thomas was traded to the New York Jets on September 10, 2019, in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
