Demar Derozan: Mid range percentage| Dunk contest| All star
Mid range percentage:
He’s been highly efficient from that area, knocking down his middies at a 50.4 percent clip. There are no limits to DeRozan’s midrange prowess.
That a DeMar DeRozan mid-range shot is a good shot because he’s just so damn proficient at them, and it’s not like teams are just letting him fire away wide-open looks from there. When looking at half-court offense, per Cleaning The Glass, league average is 93.4 points per 100 plays.
For the purpose of the research, I defined a mid-range jumper as anywhere between the restricted area and the three-point line. Shots went in at roughly the same rate from three to nine feet (37.6 percent), 10 to 15 feet (38.3 percent), and 16 to 22 feet (38.1 percent) last year.
Dunk Contest:
Based on the talent level and dunking ability of the 2010 NBA Dunk Contest’s four participants, it appeared 30 minutes of my evening would be well-spent. Instead, it was comically awful and nearly a complete waste of my time.
All Star:
He is a five-time NBA All-Star and a two-time All-NBA Team member. He spent nine seasons with the Raptors, including five playoff runs, before being traded to the Spurs in the summer of 2018 and the Bulls in 2021. DeRozan has played for the United States national team in the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Not from Wilt Chamberlain. Not from Michael Jordan. Not from Kobe Bryant. Not from LeBron James.
Prior to the All-Star break, DeRozan surpassed Chamberlain for the longest stretch in NBA history with at least 35 points while shooting at least 50 percent from the field at seven games.
