Trade rumors
After a play-filled first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, it appears the 49ers are serious in their desire to keep All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel.
On Monday, 49ers general manager John Lynch addressed trade rumors surrounding Samuel, saying he had no intention of dealing with his team’s best offensive weapon. According to Albert Breuer of Sports Illustrated, Lynch said, “You don’t let people walk like that.” “I can’t imagine a scenario where we would.”
Samuel reportedly requested the franchisee to do business last week. Money is reportedly not the basis of his issue, as Samuel doesn’t like the way the franchise uses him in aggressive planning. Before the draft began on Thursday, both sides failed to make progress toward an extension of the contract as Samuels entered the final year of his deal.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday, emphasizing the goal of not letting San Francisco’s Samuel go to another team. They say the 49ers turned down two offers from the teams for a star wideout.
“The Jets offer Pick 10 and Pick Swap,” Rapoport said. “The 49ers wouldn’t do that. The Lions had an offer on the table and of course ended up going for Jameson Williams.
Contract
The 26-year-old wants to be one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL with Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline reporting that Samuel wants an annual salary in the range of $25 million. “Most people believe that Samuel’s final contract will be in the range of $23-$24 million per year.
Trade to patriots
OBJ tweeted Saturday that the San Francisco 49ers traded Deebo Samuel to the New England Patriots.
The day after the “breaking news” OBJ tweeted that they got some information from Samuel and asked fans if he should skip tea. Fans were wondering if this news had anything to do with Samuel leaving the 49th and joining the New York Jets.
After the 2022 NFL Draft ended, it was clear that Samuel would not be joining the Jets but OBJ is now claiming that the 49ers wide receiver is moving to New England. Samuel immediately shut down the rumor and several NFL reporters also declared that Beckham Jr. was not telling the truth.
