Hopkins (hamstring) scored both goals for 66 yards in the Cardinals’ 24-21 loss to the Packers on Thursday night. He sidelined the bulk of the game with a hamstring injury, and ESPN.com’s Josh Weinfuss reported that the receiver ran back on his field “a couple of times” without the coaching staff’s consent in the run-up to the game.

Wenfuss says coach Cliff Kingsbury was clearly not happy with the potential long-term injury risk from his star receiver, and even with Hopkins’ efforts to help his team, the Cardinals still have suffered the first defeat of the season. Hopkins will now be looking to get back to health in time for the Week 9 roadshowdown with the Chiefs a week from Sunday.

Hopkins (hamstring) made a comeback in Thursday’s game against the Packers.

Hopkins was sidelined for most of the game after a hamstring injury evidently aggravated in the first quarter. However, he returned in the middle of the third quarter and should give the Cardinals’ offense a major boost if he can remain on the field for the remainder of the competition.

DeAndre Hopkins has compounded his hamstring injury and is doubtful to return in Thursday’s game against Green Bay, reports Arizona Republic’s Kent Somers. Hopkins was out in the middle of the first quarter after taking a 51-yard catch. He was seen testing his hamstrings on the sideline but hasn’t checked back in the game since his early exit. Hopkins didn’t practice at all during the short week, and now he may be forced to miss the rest of Thursday’s competition.

COVID

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins deleted a tweet Thursday afternoon shortly after posting saying he would “question” his future in the NFL if it meant no COVID-19 vaccine The meeting could potentially hurt his team’s prospects in 2021.

Hopkins’ tweet came in the wake of an NFL memo describing the implications for teams that had a COVID outbreak during the 2021 season destroying status groups or entire rosters. The NFL said a forfeiture would be declared for postponed games that could not be rescheduled within the season’s 18-game structure and caused an outbreak among unaffiliated players on a team. In addition, if a forfeiture occurs, players on both teams will lose their game checks.

The NFL’s new policy caused a stir throughout the league, with players reacting to the news on social media and at training camps.

Hopkins’ now-deleted tweet read: “Never thought I’d say this, but being in a position to hurt my team doesn’t want to take part in the vaccine, makes me question my future in @nfl standing up.” After deleting his initial tweet, he tweeted: “Azadi?”

Although he later tweeted that he had “9 more years left in me.”
