Sister
New Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills is at least winning when it comes to receiving reports from the older siblings.
Mills’ older sister, Ali Mills, who lives in Houston and works in wealth management analysis, says her younger brother is the best in the position.
I’ve always believed in him and thought he was the best quarterback ever,” Ali told Fox 26’s Mark Berman. “I can’t even explain it. He’s my little brother. It’s super real to see him go to the next level. We’ve always thought he’s going to make it there. It’s great to see it in real life.”
Mills joked that he might have to be with his sister during an off-season workout with the Texans.
“She’s my second oldest, so she’s the middle child,” Mills told reporters after the NFL’s second day. “The fifth year went to the University of Houston, Houston and played tennis there and did an MBA there. Now she is working in wealth management in Houston and was really just living with roommates and found her place there. So, I might be able to sneak into one of his bedrooms and save some money.”
Contract
Davis Mills is officially a member of the Houston Texans. According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, the Texans and Mills have agreed a four-year contract worth $5.22 million, which also comes with a signing bonus of $1.157 million. With Mills now under contract, the Texans have signed their entire 2021 NFL Draft class.
After the Texans selected Mills with his 67th overall pick, the 22-year-old Georgia native described his drafting experience as “incredibly special” and “very humbling.” Mills told reporters he is most excited about the opportunity to play under Pep Hamilton — who is entering his first season as Houston’s new quarterback coach.

Mills made his NFL debut in the Texans’ week two game against the Cleveland Browns, when starter Tyrod Taylor suffered a hamstring injury in the first half. Mills threw his first NFL pass in the game with a two-yard pass to wide receiver Brandin Cook. On the Tuesday following the game, head coach David Cooley announced that Mills would begin the team’s third week of play against the Carolina Panthers and that Taylor was still recovering from his injury.

The 22-year-old was the organization’s third round this season. To Tyrod Taylor’s relief in Week 2, Mills completed 18 of 8-of-8 passes for 102 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He’s not a recommended fantasy option, but the Panthers D/ST certainly is.

Mills threw for more than 2,700 yards with 34 touchdowns and only one interception in 271 attempts leading the Greater Atlanta Christians to the Georgia AAA title game last fall. After suffering a knee injury in August, Mills was expected to miss three months. A month later, he was back on the field.
Mills injured his knee in the state finals and as a precaution, won the U.S. Army opted not to play in the All-American Bowl.
