Spouse
Nicole Tepper, the wife of Panthers owner David Tepper and chief administrative officer of Tepper Sports Entertainment, failed to complete the required inclusive recruiting training to be part of the team’s search committee.
This week, five candidates interviewed for the head coaching vacancy that opened up following the dismissal of Matt Rhule.
The NFL has not commented publicly on the issue, but did provide a statement regarding the rule in question.
“Inclusive hiring training is a key element of our efforts to promote an equitable hiring process. NFL SVP and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, Jonathan Bean, said any suggestion that this mandatory requirement was not met by the applicable clubs will be immediately addressed and corrected.
On Friday, ESPN reported that the Panthers are now considered to be in compliance by the NFL.
Press conference
Carolina Panthers team owner David Tepper said during a press conference Tuesday that he is committed to bringing winning football to the Carolinas. They fired head coach Frank Reich on Monday amid a disappointing 1-10 season.
“Things are constantly evolving and they will continue to evolve,” Tepper said Tuesday. “Trying to make things better is what you’re always trying to do. Obviously, that record isn’t good enough. There’s no hiding it, it is what it is. That record is that record. “Like I said, it’s not good enough. We’re going to reflect and make it better.”
For the second year in a row, the Panthers fired their head coach in the middle of a losing season. Frank Reich’s tenure was the shortest for an NFL coach in 45 years.
The final blow came Sunday when the Panthers suffered their 10th loss of the season at the hands of the Tennessee Titans. The team is 1–10 with rookie quarterback Bryce Young showing little progress. He has been sacked 40 times this season – the second most in the league.
Tepper said he understands fans’ frustration.
“We will make it better,” he said.
Tepper would not talk about a timeline for when the new head coach might step into the role.
Wife
In David Tepper’s life, he has walked down the aisle with two different women. The billionaire married his first wife, Marlene Resnick Tepper, in 1986 and they divorced in 2014. They have three children between them.
In 2019, David Tepper found a new heart in Nicole Bronish and walked down the aisle with her. The couple is living happily ever after.
Nicole Bronish, now Nicole Tepper, is not well-known to the media and only came into limelight because of her marriage with David Tepper.
Another celebrity on the rise is Tepper’s wife, Nicole Tepper. Until this off-season, he had not received much attention from Panthers fans, and most of what he did receive was not negative. At worst, her importance to the organization is dismissed by some or she is reduced to an attractive trophy wife. However, it is becoming clear that she is connected to much more than this organization and Charlotte. Nicole Tepper has been actively involved in charity and is becoming a face of compassion and the exemplary face of social outreach that every NFL organization wants to portray. Her charm and generosity have balanced out her aggressive billionaire husband, who has begun to rub many fans the wrong way.
Throughout this offseason, Mrs. Tepper has shown that her role and importance to the organization goes far beyond social outreach or her husband’s handler role. She was part of the hiring committee that hired Frank Reich, and was front and center when Carolina was looking for its next quarterback. Some people scratched their heads at the idea that the owner’s wife would help rent footballs. However, in this case this thinking is outdated. He has been an asset in Carolina’s decision-making this offseason. Without in-depth knowledge of the recruiting process or how much input she has had into who the next quarterback will be, she has brought a fresh perspective and has assisted Tepper in making important personnel decisions. Some might call it women’s intuition, but she had a good eye for talent.
Salary
The average manager earned $570 million – fourth best in 22 years – and the seven highest earners earned at least $1 billion.
The highest earner was Ken Griffin, founder of multistrategy giant Citadel. He personally made $4.1 billion – the most earned by any hedge fund manager in the history of the Rich List.
Citadel’s flagship fund, Wellington, recorded gains of more than 38 percent last year, making Griffin one of the top performers in his strategy. The firm’s assets under management increased to $53.7 billion.
Griffin was followed by Millennium Management’s multistrat rival Izzy Englander, who made $3.2 billion. In total, Englander has made more than $10 billion over the past three years.
But although some famous managers had banner years, many stock pickers got crushed in the bear market — and only three long-shot managers performed well enough to make the Rich List: Greenlight Capital’s David Einhorn and Marshall Paul Marshall and Ian Weiss of Weiss.
