Daryl Joseph Mitchell (born 20 May 1991) is a New Zealand cricketer who represents Canterbury in domestic cricket and plays for the national team. He is the son of New Zealand rugby union coach and former player John Mitchell.

After a career in hip hop in the 1980s with Groove Be Chill, Mitchell found considerable success as an actor, appearing in House Party and its sequel, Sgt. Bilco, Galaxy Quest, 10 Things I Hate About You, and the TV sitcoms The John Larroquette Show and Veronica Closet. She has also starred in the sitcoms Baker, and The Game and Desperate Housewives. In 2009, he co-starred in the short-lived sitcom Brothers. From 2014 to 2021 he starred in NCIS: New Orleans as recurring-main character Patton Plum, NCIS’s computer specialist. In 2018, he joined the cast of Fear the Walking Dead, portraying Wendell.

In September 2009, Michelle was profiled on TV One’s biographical documentary program Life After, a series that examines the lives of celebrities after a career turn.

On November 10, 2001, Mitchell was paralyzed from the waist down following a motorcycle accident in South Carolina, in which he lost control of his bike after turning a corner and encountering gravel and loose pavement. He woke up in the hospital five days later. [3] Mitchell received full support from his family and friends, including Denzel Washington and Chris Tucker, to continue his career.[2] He was followed by an appearance in the TV program Ed between 2002 and 2004. He had a recurring role as a bowling alley manager, who was paralyzed after an accident. [4]

Mitchell later started the Daryl Mitchell Foundation to raise awareness of spinal cord injury, and served as minority outreach spokesperson for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. He has also become a strong proponent of hiring actors with disabilities.[3]

He currently resides in Sugar Hill, Georgia, with his wife and three children. [3] Their two sons play football for North Gwynet High School, while their daughter cheers for North Gwynet High.[1] Mitchell won the NAACP Image Award on February 26, 2010.
