Week 7

Waller, who was added to the Raiders’ injury report Saturday and is listed as questionable with an ankle injury, is viewed as a game-time decision for Sunday’s contest against the Eagles, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The tight end strained his inner ankle and heel during Friday’s practice, and his Week7 status now hinges on how he feels during pre-game warmups. If Waller is out or only able to play a limited amount of snaps Sunday, Foster Moreau would be the next man up to see added opportunities at tight end. Given that Las Vegas and Philadelphia kick off at 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday, those considering Waller in fantasy lineups will ideally have an alternate option in place should he end up missing the contest.

Update

Tight end has been a frustrating position all year, and in a week with six byes and a couple key guys out because of injury, the last thing fantasy football owners need is game-time decisions — especially when they’re studs like Darren Waller and T.J. Hockenson. The fact these “questionable” TEs play in late-afternoon games will make Week 7 start ’em, sit ’em decisions all the more difficult.

Contract

After a breakout season in 2019, the Raiders rewarded Darren Waller with a big contract extension. The team signed him to a four-year deal worth just under $30 million.

Fantasy

Ever since a dominant Week 1 showing in which he hauled in 10 of 19 targets for 105 yards and a score, Waller has 273 yards and one touchdown to his name. Foster Moreau will start in place of Waller, whose injury seemed to get worse throughout the week. Fantasy managers in a bind should look beyond the Raiders’ tight ends this week.

Story

Darren waller

A year ago, Darren Waller was a recovering addict who was surprised to suddenly find himself with the Raiders.

Waller is still a recovering addict. He is ready and willing to deal with that affliction for the rest of his life. Waller has also become a sudden star, one of the best tight ends in the NFL, and the owner of a three-year contract extension worth a reported $9 million per season.
