Daron Bland (born July 12, 1999) is an American football cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Sacramento State before transferring to Fresno State. Currently he holds the record of most number of 5 sixes in a season.
Pick 6
The Dallas Cowboys cornerback set an NFL single-season record with his fifth interception for a touchdown. Bland intercepted Washington Commanders quarterback Sam Howell and returned it 63 yards in the fourth quarter of the Cowboys’ 45–10 victory on Thanksgiving, becoming the pick-6 king.
Record
Cowboys cornerback Daron Bland made NFL history on Thursday.
He returned an interception for a touchdown for the fifth time this season. His 63-yard pick-six broke the NFL record he shared with Eric Allen (1993), Ken Houston (1971), and Jim Kearney (1972) from the previous week.
His other touchdowns this season included 22 yards against Daniel Jones, 54 yards against Mac Jones, 30 yards against Matthew Stafford and 30 yards against Bryce Young, with Young being selected last week.
Sam Howell, Terry McLaurin and Brian Robinson had shots to keep Bland out of the end zone on a pass intended for Jahan Dotson, which Bland pounced on.
Pick six
Daron Bland used the Cowboys’ annual Thanksgiving Day game to etch himself into the history books.
The Cowboys cornerback set an NFL single-season record with his fifth pick-six of the year on Thursday, intercepting Commanders quarterback Sam Howell and dodging multiple would-be tacklers on a 63-yard return for pay dirt.
“For the fans, the family, the coaches to be there and to do it on Thanksgiving Day is just another thing to be grateful for,” Bland said after the game on CBS. “That play, I saw the ball, saw the receiver running the out route and I just had to go get it. And then, all I saw was open field.”
