Former Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn made his biggest offseason decision last year when he replaced All-Pro cornerback Darius Slay for the Philadelphia Eagles.

A native of Brunswick, Georgia, Slay attended Brunswick High School, where he was a running back and defensive back. After his senior season on the defensive back he was named an All-State by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and was also selected to the Georgia North-South All-Star Game. He ran for more than 1,300 yards and 15 touchdowns in the 2008 season, and intercepted six passes with two touchdown returns. His junior season was cut short by a torn medial collateral ligament after rushing for 336 yards and six touchdowns in five games. As a sophomore, he covered 1,127 yards for 142 rushes with 13 touchdowns. Slay was also versed in basketball and was an exceptional track and field athlete.
