Daniel Ricciardo has been kicked out by McLaren after the British F1 team terminated his contract. Ricciardo, an eight-time grand prix winner, had a deal until the end of 2023, and insisted last month that he is “committed to McLaren until the end of next year”.

But McLaren’s hierarchy has shifted by paying the final season of his deal to end the 33-year-old’s disappointing two-season stint with the team. Ricciardo will leave McLaren at the end of the current campaign, and is expected to be replaced by Oscar Piastri, 21.
