Starting quarterback veteran Daniel Jones was kicked off the field on Sunday with an apparent left ankle injury against the Chicago Bears, then returned to play after his replacement Tyrod Taylor suffered an injury.

Taylor came in for Jones as he stayed sideways after examining his lower left foot on the bench. Jones threw for 71 yards and earned 68 rushing yards before leaving on Sunday. Taylor took a shot at the helmet in a melee game, and Jones returned in the fourth quarter, leading the Giants 17-12.

The Giants announced during the game that Taylor was being evaluated for a concussion. He went straight from the tent to the locker room. It was determined that he suffered a concussion, and he entered into protocol on Sunday.

Taylor threw for 966 yards in 150 passing attempts in six games last season.

The injury occurred in the third quarter with 3:34 remaining when Jones was sacked by Jacen Brisker for the first time.

The Giants will board a charter flight Thursday night to fly to London for their Week 5 game against the Packers. It remains to be seen how many healthy players are available after the Giants were battered but not beaten in Sunday’s 20-12 win over the Bears.

The Giants have lost both of their quarterbacks as Daniel Jones (ankle) and Tyrod Taylor (concussion) have a high position this week. Several other injury issues were emerging from an extremely physical game, leading head coach Brian Dabol to say, “There’s a list. There’s a lot of people out there.”

It was a tough first half for the Giants, who lost three players on the defence. Safety Julian Love was assessed for a blow in the second quarter and did not return, robbing the defense of a player who is on the field for every snap. Cornerback Aaron Robinson started two weeks after having his appendix removed. He was forced to be dismissed early in the second quarter due to a knee injury, when he was hit low by fullback Khary Blasingham and twisted his feet on the turf. Defensive lineman Henri Mondaux, having risen above the practice squad, was kicked off the field late in the second quarter with an ankle injury.
