Dalvin Cook Allegations

Cooks, who was released by the Vikings in June after six seasons, remains a free agent. In November 2021, Trimble filed a lawsuit against Cook alleging physical and emotional abuse. She then filed a defamation suit against him in Hennepin County. Both the cases are pending.

In a statement, Cook said he knew his attorneys initially offered Trimble $800,000 in May to provide him with an affidavit exonerating him of wrongdoing, the filing said.

After Trimble’s attorney told Cook’s attorney that she “would not sign a fraudulent affidavit”, her attorneys increased the offer to $1 million a few hours later. That higher offer required Trimble to sign a letter in negotiated language to the NFL to “clear Mr. Cook of wrongdoing.” Trimble declined the second offer as well.

Dalvin Cook Allegations: Domestic| Why was released

Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook has broken his silence on domestic abuse allegations after multiple reports surfaced late Wednesday. His ex-girlfriend filed a lawsuit against the 26-year-old man alleging assault, false imprisonment and assault.

The next day, Cook spoke to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin about the allegations against him and said that he wanted people to know that he was the victim, not his ex-girlfriend.

“I just want everyone to know that I am a victim of this situation and that the truth and details about the situation will come later,” Cook said on Wednesday.

The alleged dispute took place a year ago in November 2020. Although the incident was still fresh, no charges were filed and the police were not called.

Cook’s attorney, David Valentini, said the running back’s ex-girlfriend (Trimble) broke into Cook’s home and then tried to extort millions of dollars from the 26-year-old.

Why was released

The Vikings released Dalvin Cook on Friday, ending the running back’s six-year tenure in Minnesota.

Minnesota had made another attempt to trade Cook, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday ahead of his release process.

Sources told Schefter that the Miami Dolphins are expected to be interested in signing Cook. Cook can sign with any team after 4:01 pm. ET Friday.

Cook, who will turn 28 in August, was set to take on $14.1 million in cap space for 2023 and earn $11 million if he spent the season with the Vikings. It is a huge number for an aging player who crossed the 1,500-mark in his career last season.

The Vikings owed Cook $2 million, but by releasing him after June 1, they saved $9 million in cap space while taking away $5.1 million in dead money on the 2023 cap.

“I have the utmost respect for Dalvin and am grateful for his contributions on and off the field,” coach Kevin O’Connell said in a statement. “Dalvin is a tough, dynamic player and a leader respected by his teammates, which was evident from his multiple seasons as team captain. As a finalist for the 2022 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, Dalvin has been recognized for his approach to the game and sportsmanship. His commitment to excellence is clearly respected throughout the league. We appreciate Dalvin’s positivity, energy and leadership and will look to him in the future.”
