The Dallas Mavericks have banned two fans after completing an investigation into an incident involving the family of Chris Paul of the Phoenix Suns during Sunday’s Western Conference semifinal round playoff game at the American Airlines Center, the team announced Monday.

“Two unruly fans attempt an unwanted hug and interact with members of the Paul family at a public gathering at the American Airlines Center,” the statement said. “AAC security responded immediately after being informed by the family and fans were swiftly kicked out of the game. Fans involved in the incident will not be allowed to return to the arena until 2023.”

ESPN reported on Sunday night that Paul’s family members were harassed by fans and that some in the crowd had made physical contact with them.

“This was unacceptable behavior and will not be tolerated,” the Mavericks said in a statement after the game. “The Mavericks, along with the American Airlines Center, swiftly removed the fan from today’s game.”

Paul tweeted postgame: “Fans want great players to say stuff, but fans can lay hands on our families,” he also added a slang.

DALLAS – Facing a playoff elimination against the NBA’s number one team in the regular season, the Dallas Mavericks had two choices: win or stay home.

Home has been the key word in the Mavs’ second-round playoff series against the top-seeded Phoenix Suns.

The home team has won every match so far, with seven points being the smallest margin of victory (Game 1).

The trend continued in Dallas on Thursday night as the Mavericks held off an elimination in Game 6, 113-86.

Prior to this spring, the Mavericks had not won a home playoff game since 2015. They have won five in the last three weeks.

As always, 23-year-old Luka Doncic led the way with 33 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. He got the ball rolling once – his lowest turnover in a game since March 29 versus the Los Angeles Lakers.
