In Week 5 the Dallas Cowboys lost to the San Francisco 49ers 42–10. It was considered a heavyweight matchup between the two best teams in the NFC and the league. It lost to a much superior San Francisco team. After the loss, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott took a lot of the blame and provided plenty of funny meme reactions on social media.

Prescott was not good in the Cowboys-49ers game on Sunday night in Week 5. The QB went 14 of 24 for 153 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. The 49ers’ defense makes a lot of signal-callers look bad, but on a team with playoff and even Super Bowl aspirations, this was a poor performance.

Many of the Dak Prescott memes that came after the Cowboys’ Week 5 loss to the 49ers involved the QB’s inability to step up when needed. Social media users posted memes of people tripping, slipping, or throwing wildly under pressure.

Press conference

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott spoke to the media on Thursday on a variety of topics, including his return from injury and the testing he will face after an inconclusive season.

“Obviously, my family has always been there. I want them to always be there…those guys know how I am and what I look like every day, understand that the numbers don’t always tell what it’s like,” Prescott said.

Dak threw two picks on the first day of camp on Wednesday, but is still confident in his technical ability and says he will remain aggressive and not back down.

“Yesterday was tough, today as I said, it was 50-50 on the ball, maybe they got a little more percentage but that’s part of it. “I’m not going to stop being aggressive, I’m just going to get my interception numbers down,” Prescott said.

“There’s going to come a time when he probably throws two interceptions during the game and that will be a great moment for us to learn from. This perception is common, you don’t compete in this league and not have adversity on and off the field, it’s not realistic,” coach Mike McCarthy said.

Prescott understands he is being scrutinized and is preparing for the heat he will receive in his own way.

Salary

The market is constantly expanding, but according to Over the Cap, Prescott’s average annual salary of $40 million ties him with Daniel Jones and Matt Stafford for 10th among signal-callers. The deal Prescott signed in ’21 was the first big-money contract of his professional career.
