Cooper Douglas Kupp (born June 15, 1993) is an American football wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Eastern Washington, where he won the Walter Payton Award as a junior, and was selected by the Rams in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Kupp had a breakout season in 2021 when he became the fourth player since the AFL–NFL merger to lead the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Kupp received Offensive Player of the Year awards and was the MVP of Super Bowl LVI; Jerry Rice is the only other wide receiver to accomplish this feat in his career.
Practice
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp practiced on Wednesday, and although the injury report said he was a limited participant, coach Sean McVay said he would go through a “normal” practice.
Earlier in the day, the Rams designated Kupp to return to practice, beginning their 21-day practice window. The receiver has been on injured reserve with a hamstring injury since the beginning of the season and has missed the Rams’ first four games.
“He said he felt really good,” McVay said before practice Wednesday. “I have confidence in him. He’s a guy who knows his body very well, a very experienced player and so the talks will continue.
“We want to be smart as we increase his workload during the week with the goal of getting him ready to go and we’ll see what that really looks like as the weeks go on.”
Kupp first suffered a hamstring injury during a training camp practice on August 1. He then suffered a setback before the start of the season. Since Kupp’s injury, McVay has stated several times that the Rams are focused on Kupp’s “return to performance” versus simply “returning to play.”
