Schedule:
The Colorado Avalanche will ring in 2022 with having played only 27 games. Their next scheduled game is January 2nd against the Anaheim Ducks at Ball Arena.
This comes after a surprising postponement of both Dallas Star games this week. It’s only fitting to finish out 2021 with some craziness.
GPG:
The Avalanche sort of woke from a slumber in December and have started January off with 2 Wins (2-0-0), beating the Ducks and the Blackhawks to move up to third place in the Central Division, four points behind the Predators (44 points).
Colorado (4.21 gpg) seems intent on outscoring opponents for now, as statistically, the Avalanche looked horrible in the GAA (3.31, #23) and on the Penalty Kill (73.6%, #28) but the Avs were pretty productive on the Power Play (23.7%, #9).
Goalie:
One good thing for Colorado in January is that it doesn’t have to travel across the the Canadian border or have any games rescheduled from that standpoint and the avalanche won’t have to travel 2 Time Zones east to Eastern Time in January.
As it stands today, the Avs are fourth in the Central Division trailing the Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators and the St. Louis Blues. All three teams have played three to four more games than the Avs. Boom. A positive! We are still focusing on positives to start off the new year.
