When is the fight
The UFC returns to the PPV this weekend with a rare non-title main event from Las Vegas. The door to the octagon closed when a pair of heated rivals at UFC 272 heading welterweight Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday, March 5.
Covington and Masvidal are former teammates who have become enemies of hatred. While fans have long wanted to see two square offs in the octagon, both men have tied with their personal rivalry with UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
In the week before the event, UFC 272 lost its co-main event when Rafael Fijiev was knocked out of his bout with former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. News broke on Monday that Fiziv had tested positive for COVID-19.
Interview
Colby Covington recently took a shot at labeling UFC analyst Din Thomas as Tyrone Woodley’s “water boy.”
Covington and Tyrone Woodley faced each other in a ‘Chaos’ battle won by TKO in the fifth round in 2020. The win over the former UFC welterweight champion two years ago was Covington’s last win in the Octagon.
During the UFC 270 weigh-in show, Din Thomas expressed interest in working with Covington as part of his Din Diaries series. However, ‘Chaos’ does not like Thomas’ proposal and targets his former rival Woodley to surround him. Covington would return for a fifth straight main event fight in promotion to the UFC Octagon at UFC 272. ‘Chaos’ is currently on the back of a loss to Kamaru Usman, who was defeated by the current UFC Welterweight Champion at UFC 268.
