Rhodes was born Cody Garrett Runles on Sunday, June 30, 1985, to highly successful professional wrestler Virgil Runnels, known professionally as Dusty Rhodes, and his second wife, Michelle. In addition to Dustin, he has two half-sisters from his father’s first marriage. When he was a teenager, he legally changed his name to Cody Garrett Runnels Rhodes. Rhodes attended Lassiter High School and had a successful high school wrestling career.

Neck surgery
In an interview with WWE.com, he did not mention having a neck injury or neck surgery. Here’s how he described his injury;
“Well, honestly, the best way I can hear the injury I described is that I dodged a bullet. Trap tear is a grade two (on a scale of one to three), but I haven’t needed surgery — proper physical The tears will heal on their own over time with healing. The detached shoulder is a chronic injury from amateur wrestling, and it’s basically the area that could have gotten quite worse. I could land on my neck, but I could get away with my shoulder. But turned in just in time to land. The dislocated shoulder is where it hurts the most and it’s the AC joint, but like I said, I dodged a bullet – no surgery.”

“I believe it was 30 June 2007. My birthday is on 30th June. I was brought up from the development system and was on the road for the first time. In the first three minutes of the bout, I confidently hit the ropes, bounced back and pointed my elbow between my eyes. And then I realized that I was completely open. Now, I saw my dad giggle all the time and thought it was cool. But I remember watching a baby gasp in the front row—and then I realized I hit an artery and everything went out. ,
“Senior referee Mike Chioda stopped my first match. I was taken to the back and, instead of microstitch or glue, cable stitches. Those cable stitches evolved into my ‘Harry Potter’ scars, which I have today. Funny side story: Randy Orton, who was with me during my first weekend, told me I should give it a little air. So I opened the window and two of my cable stitches broke open. I had plasma dripping from my nose at Applebee’s for about 40 minutes.”
