Philip Jack Brooks (born October 26, 1978), better known by the ring name CM Punk, is an American professional wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE, where he previously worked from 2005 to 2014.
Why is so popular
I’m as excited as the next Chicago player. I got back into wrestling in 2016, so missed the whole pipebomb and summer of punk, but obviously watched it. Wasn’t the pipebomb scripted or at least had Vince’s approval? I’m not even trying to put him down, but most agree that Punk’s wrestling ability is mediocre (Edit: Looks like I messed up saying this. Apparently he’s above average) . The whole Colt Cabana fiasco has not been mentioned. So why is he so popular and beloved? My personal reason is that I want to see the crowd lose their shit, but I’m having a hard time understanding why they’re so mad about that? Edit Edit: Please vote me to hell because the confusion is real. Apparently everyone thinks he’s on the level of Okada/Misawa/Daniel Bryan in terms of wrestling ability.
CM Punk surprised many viewers, including me, by pinning Kane at No Way Out to retain the WWE Championship. I was almost convinced that Daniel Bryan was going to get the win, and the crowd was going “Yes!” Will raise slogans. For the rest of the night.
The surprising thing is that he was not even involved in the way the match ended. Kane told A.J. Wasted time in showing concern for, and the rest is history, as CM Punk eliminated him.
CM Punk has been around for a few years now – I believe his Monday Night Raw debut was in November of 2010 – and here are some reasons why I believe CM Punk is the best man of all time. Could be a popular WWE superstar.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Lewis Howse of Cultaholic), Punk and WWE “are in talks,” though WWE

On Sunday, AEW sold out the NOW Arena in suburban Chicago for its annual Labor Day pay-per-view, All Out. The show featured Toni Storm being crowned the new interim Women’s Champion, the surprise return of disgruntled loose cannon MJF (with a new, expensive theme song set to “Sympathy for the Devil” by the Rolling Stones), an unexpected Classic World Tag Title match, And CM Punk avenged his three-minute AEW World Championship loss by capturing the title in his hometown in a bloody brawl against Jon Moxley on Dynamite several weeks ago. This was undoubtedly an eventful show with great wrestling, and an hour later no one was talking about it.
What they were talking about was new champion CM Punk coming to the post-match press conference and angrily firing shots straight at his former friend Colt Cabana, former opponent Adam Page and various Executive Vice Presidents (EVPs) who were People were understanding.
