Clayton Edward Kershaw (born March 19, 1988) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has played for the Dodgers for the entirety of his MLB career. A left-handed starting pitcher, Kershaw has played 14 seasons in the major leagues since making his debut in 2008. He is an eight-time All-Star, a three-time National League (NL) Cy Young Award winner, and the 2014 NL Most. Valuable player. His 2.49 career earned run average (ERA) and 1.00 walks plus hits per inning pitch rate (WHIP) are among the lowest starts in the live-ball era (minimum 1,000 innings pitch). Kershaw has allowed career hits per nine innings at an average of 6.78, the second lowest in MLB history. He has been described as the best pitcher in baseball for most of his career, and as one of the greatest pitchers of all time.

Postgame
Clayton Kershaw flirted with a perfect game on Wednesday, clearing the Twins in seven innings.
The Dodgers lefty put 21 up and 21 down in seven innings. The last six boycotts that were controversial.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts pulled off Clayton Kershaw before the start of the eighth inning, instead sending reliever Alex Vesia for the eighth. Vescia will single out twins catcher Gary Sanchez, ending the game’s perfect bid and many grieving fans won’t have the opportunity to watch history on Wednesday.
While in the dugout, Kershaw looked happy and at peace with the decision to pull out after seven, even if the fans were not happy with that decision. The Dodgers would win the game 7-0 when the dust settled.
Salary
Clayton Kershaw is back in Dodger Blue. Dodgers fans were on edge for months during the MLB lockdown, unsure where Kershaw would sign after being able to negotiate a new contract. Shortly after the lockdown ended, Lefty signed a one-year deal to live in LA.
With Kershaw coming out of an injured season, his new contract is packed with incentives based on stability. MLB insider Robert Murray provided the details.
Kershaw’s contract base salary is $17M plus those incentives above. If he makes at least 16 starts in 2022, he will get a bonus of $1M. Then he will earn an additional $1M every time he hits 20,22,24, and game 26 starts.
In his last three 162-game regular seasons, Kershaw has made nearly 26 starts. He can take full advantage of the incentive contract if his elbows, and the rest of his body, are grasped.

Clayton Kershaw pushed a weighted sled 70 feet through the well-tended grass of his home’s side yard, his feet churning as he crossed the plastic kiddie slide. He then proceeded to the open gate to survey the playground across the street.
“What’s the time?” He asked.
It was 9:43.
“I’m sure Callie is out there,” he said.
He looked and looked until he realized that his 6 year old daughter was not there.
Callie is the eldest of Kershaw’s three children. He’s in kindergarten, and Kershaw knows his schedule inside and out. He takes her to school. He picks her up. He is a member of the school’s Dads Club and volunteers twice a month for the three-hour cafeteria shift. And he knows Callie is on recess at 9:43 a.m.
Wife
Clayton and Ellen Kershaw announced the birth of their fourth child, Chance James Kershaw. They are now a family of six, with Callie, Charlie and Cooper being Chance the youngest of siblings.
The couple is believed to have moved back to their native Texas, and having a home in Dallas has fueled speculation that the Los Angeles Dodgers ace may be leaving to sign with the Texas Rangers in free agency.
It may be more likely now that the couple has four young children. Consensus Kershaw will finally decide this winter between re-signing with the Dodgers, joining his hometown Rangers, or retiring.
