Kershaw expressed concern about the re-invitation of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to the Dodgers’ LGBTQ+ night due to their tendency to mock religion. It appears that Clayton, known for his conservative values, felt uncomfortable with their presence. He decided to request the organization to announce the night of religious devotion earlier than originally planned in order to cater to a specific group of Dodgers fans who are also devout believers. Please note that this group is separate from the more well-known Hollywood celebrities.

Statement

Clayton Kershaw expressed his disagreement with the Los Angeles Dodgers’ decision to include the LGBTQIA+ group known as the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence at the team’s annual Pride Night. Kershaw shared his views with the Los Angeles Times, stating that the team’s choice to honor the group, even after rescinding the initial invitation, led him to approach the Dodgers and request an expedited announcement about the revival of Christian Faith and Family Day later in the season.

Kershaw explained, “I believe we had always planned to hold Christian Faith Day this year, but the timing of our announcement was accelerated.” He further elaborated that selecting a date and coordinating the event were part of their response to the attention given to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence by the Dodgers.

On Twitter, Kershaw personally announced last Friday that Christian Faith and Family Day is scheduled for July 30, coinciding with the Dodgers’ game against the Cincinnati Reds. The previous occurrence of this event was in 2019.
