Trade fantasy
As a sleepy and messy Thursday night football game between the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals approached, the San Francisco 49ers made late-night headlines by being traded for RB Christian McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers. In return, the Panthers are reportedly getting second, third and fourth round picks in 2023 and a fifth rounder in 2024.
From a fantasy perspective, this trade immediately boosts McCaffrey’s value by burying Jeff Wilson, Tevin Coleman, Tyrion Davis-Price, and Elijah Mitchell—of course, one or more of those names may be on the move. In Carolina, D’Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard are set to compete for time and touch play.
Will play this week
McCaffrey was running top over the weekend, and as reported, he will remain active and play his usual starting role on Sunday.
