Snow was born on August 11, 1981, and grew up in Melrose, Massachusetts. He met his wife, Kelsey, when he was a sports writer for The Boston Globe. They married in 2007 and have two children. In 2019, Snow was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He died of complications from the disease in Calgary, Alberta on September 30, 2023, at the age of 42.

In loving memory of Flames Vice President Data/Analytics and Assistant General Manager Chris Snow, who passed away on September 30, 2023 after a five-year battle with ALS, the service description is confirmed. Chris Snow was Kelsey’s beloved husband, Cohen and Willa’s father, and our friend. He is freed from sorrow.

What happened to
A year-long journey that doctors told her would end quickly and cruelly — because an aggressive form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis was attacking nerve cells in her brain and spinal cord and impairing her walking, speaking and Would take away the ability to breathe – Chris Snow just didn’t survive. He was vibrantly alive.
ALS, known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, runs in Snow’s family. It took the life of his father Bob at nine months. It had taken the lives of two uncles and a cousin. There is no cure for this.
Funeral
A memorial service for the Calgary Flames’ Chris Snow will be held next Thursday.
The Flames’ vice president of data/analytics and assistant general manager died on September 30 at the age of 42, after a years-long battle and the odds against the terminal disease, ALS.
ALS is a progressive nervous system disease that affects brain cells and the spinal cord, and causes loss of muscle control.
On September 27, Snow’s wife Kelsey posted on social media that he had suffered a cardiac arrest, causing severe brain injury from which he would not recover.
“My chest feels open and hollow,” Kelsey Snow wrote at the time.
