Christopher Michael Beard is an American basketball coach, he was born on February 18, 1973 and is the head men’s basketball coach at the University of Texas at Austin. previously he coached at Texas Tech, Little Rock, Angelo State, and McMurry and graduated from McCullough High School in The Woodlands, Texas. He used to be a manager at Texas under former Longhorns coach Tom Penders, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. Under Beard’s supervison, the Texas Tech Red Raiders made the deepest NCAA Tournament runs in school history. In 2019, Red Raiders won a school-record 31 games on the way to the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship Game against the Virginia Cavaliers. He was recognized as the 2019 AP National Coach of the Year.

Contract
Chris Beard has signed a seven-year, $35 million contract as the new basketball coach of the Texas Longhorns. The contract calls for Beard to earn a base salary of $5 million in each year of the deal, plus incentives, and is “about 70 percent guaranteed,” the source said.
Salary
Chris Beard had a base salary this season at Texas Tech of $4.3 million, but he used to earned $5.1 million for the 2020-21 school year, because he had a one-time, $750,000 retention bonus paid to him in September, plus other incentives reached. According to his last contract at Tech, Beard was set to earn base salaries of $4.4 million in 2021-22; $4.5 million in 2022-23; $4.6 million in 2023-24; and $4.7 million in 2024-25.
