Perez Garribe said he was very proud to see his son take to the podium in Mexico, and even more thrilled that his grandson, Sergio’s son, was able to witness such a momentous occasion in person.
“I feel very proud, you need to be a father, but you have to look at the podium and see Checo’s son, Chekito, who was extremely proud of his father,” he said.
“Today, we were talking and Chekito told his father that Lewis Hamilton raised his thumb and was very excited, Chekito was very excited.

“Perez’s best is yet to come,” he said.
“Checo is still not one hundred percent in this car. One important thing to remember: Max is five years ahead of him and Hamilton has a five-year advantage sitting in his car.
“For Checo, this is his first year sitting in this car, but this season is [almost] over and this car will no longer exist, because of the new rules and a new car, so three of them and all the others. Drivers – they’re going to start again.”

Sergio Perez made his Formula One debut with the Sauber team in 2011. The Mexican signing was the result of Sauber’s announcement of a partnership with the telecommunications company Telmex.
He stayed with the Swiss outfit for two years and jumped ship for McLaren in 2013, but suffered a very poor run that year.
A year later, he moved to Force India and remained there till this season. He partnered with Nico Hulkenberg for three years, until the latter left for Renault.
