What happened to in the race

Chase Elliott, who finished third on the track, was named the winner of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway when Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch, one-two finishers, were disqualified after a post-race inspection. was done.

Denny Hamlin won another clash with Ross Chastain late in the race for first place, winning .927 in Bush’s second over. Elliot was not a close third.

But the oversight resulted in the rare disqualification of a NASCAR race winner, giving Elliott his fourth win of the year, who leads the series. Oddly enough, Elliot won the race without a lap.

Chastain and Hamlin were first and second on the restart in the closing mile. Hamlin shot to the inside of Chastain and edged the track, limiting Chastain’s alley. Chastain hit the outside wall, collided with Kevin Harvick and slipped into the inside wall and was out of the race.

When Bush lined up for fuel and tires, Chastain was running second behind Kyle Bush with 38 laps. Chastain hit a lap later. His pit crew work was about two seconds faster than Bush’s, and Chastain returned to the track in first place.
