Charles Everett Johnson (January 3, 1972 – July 19, 2022) was an American professional football player who was a wide receiver for nine seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills from 1994 to 2002, before playing college football for the Colorado Buffaloes.

Charles Johnson, the 17th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1994 NFL Draft, has died. He was 50 years old.
The news was reported by CBS 17 in Wake Forest, North Carolina, where Johnson was the assistant athletic director at Heritage High School. The cause of Johnson’s death is not yet known.
“CJ was someone who never had a bad day,” Chad Brown, a linebacker who played with Johnson in college and Pittsburgh in Colorado, said Wednesday. Brown said, “I think, obviously, we always have a tendency to over-praise when people pass by.
