Charles Wade Barkley (born February 20, 1963) is an American former professional basketball player and current television analyst. Nicknamed “Sir Charles”, “Chuck”, and “The Round Mound of Rebound”, Barkley played 16 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for three teams. Although less than the usual forward power, he used his strength and aggression to become one of the NBA’s most influential rebounders. He was a versatile player who had the ability to score, make plays and defend. He was an 11-time NBA All-Star, an 11-time All-NBA team member, and the 1993 NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP). During the 50th anniversary of the NBA, Barkley was named one of the 50 greatest players in the league.[2] He was again named among the 75 greatest players in NBA history for the league’s 75th anniversary.

Charles Barkley played for three teams during his 16-year NBA career.

He played for the Philadelphia 76ers from 1984–92. He spent the 1992–96 season with the Phoenix Suns. Barkley kicked off his NBA career with the Houston Rockets from 1996–2000.

Barkley was named NBA MVP for the 1992–93 season when he led the Suns to the 1993 NBA Finals.

Billy Cunningham coached the 76ers during Barkley’s first season, and was replaced by Matt Guocas from 1985–88. Jim Linham coached the 76ers from 1988–92.
