Commanders

The Colts are trading quarterback Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders for a package of draft picks. The Colts will receive the Commanders’ third-round picks in 2022 and 2023, sources told Schaffter. The 2023 third-rounder could become a second-round pick if Wentz plays a 70% snap of Washington. The teams also swapped second-round picks in 2022, with the Colts rising from No. 47 to No. 42 overall, and the Commanders getting a seventh-round pick in 2022.

Sources told Schefter that Washington will pay the full $28 million due to Wentz for the 2022 season, including a $5 million roster bonus due next week.

A source told ESPN’s John Keam, the Commanders offered the Seattle Seahawks three first-round picks for Russell Wilson, but Seattle opted to send him to the Denver Broncos in the AFC. Washington moved quickly and negotiated with the Colts for Wentz.

Contract

The Commanders were always expected to add a veteran quarterback during the 2022 NFL offseason. He was in the mix for several players in the business market, including Russell Wilson, but eventually ended up trading for Carson Wentz.

Washington sent 2 picks to the Colts on Day 2 and agreed to swap second-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft to acquire Wentz. The 29-year-old will play for his third team in as many seasons and try to regain his form during his 2017 Pro Bowl campaign. Wentz is entering the second year of a four-year, $128 million contract extension he signed with the Eagles in 2019. The deal began during the 2021 off-season after Wentz’s rookie contract expired. Wentz is currently the ninth highest paid quarterback in the NFL in terms of average annual worth at $32 million.

If you’re a fan of the Colts who bought the Carson Wentz jersey last season, all hope is not lost. With a few pieces of tape, you can be the proud owner of a Matt Ryan Colts jersey as both wear quarterback No.

Colts fans show off their “new and improved” Colts jersey after being traded by Chris Ballard for former Falcons quarterback on Monday. After spending his first 14 years in Atlanta, it doesn’t seem realistic to refer to Matt Ryan as a former Falcons quarterback.

Ryan signed a deal that sent him to a championship-caliber Colts team, and on Tuesday, he landed in Indianapolis to begin his journey as a colt. Let’s see how Falcons fans reacted after seeing their former franchise QB get off the plane in Indianapolis
