The Carolina Panthers not only wanted, but needed a starting quarterback really badly. And, boy, did it show.

On Thursday, the team surprisingly brought back Cam Newton and didn’t hesitate to show him the money. The Panthers’ one-year contract with the franchise icon could be worth up to $10 million, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Cam Newton has found a new home, but it is the house he is most familiar with.

The Carolina Panthers announced that they are bringing back the veteran quarterback, pending the results of a physical.

According to The Athletics’ Joseph Persson, Newton will sign a one-year deal with the Panthers. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the deal is worth up to $10 million, with $4.5 million in full guarantees and a $1.5 million roster bonus.

Panthers head coach Matt Roulette told reporters that PJ Walker would start on Sunday regardless of the signing.

Charlotte Observer’s Jonathan M. Alexander reported earlier in the day that Newton was in Charlotte to meet with the Panthers Brass, which included Roulette, owner David Tepper and vice president of football operations Steven Drummond.

It marked Newton’s return to the NFL after being released by the New England Patriots on August 31. The Patriots opted to go with Mack Jones, who was selected as their starting quarterback with the number 15 overall pick of the 2021 draft.

“I really appreciate all the love and support during this time but I must say… please don’t feel sorry for me.

Fantasy

Carolina signed their former longtime quarterback Sam Darnold on Thursday after a shoulder injury he suffered last Sunday was expected to put him on the sidelines for at least four weeks. Newton returns to a new regime that Carolina established after the Panthers released him after the 2019 season.

So, in a new scheme of an offense with some of the key playwrights he quarterbacked less than two years ago, what are the fantasy football implications of Newton’s addition?

While we don’t yet know whether Newton will make his debut in Week 10 or 11, our analysts weigh in on whether to make him a roster as well as how that will affect the value of major players like Christian McCaffrey and DJs. can do. Moore.

Add Cam Newton to Fantasy Football? What effect does that have on Panthers players?
by Sean Korner

Cam Newton is essential for managers needing QB2 with QB1 upside.

We have to remember that he gets a lot of use—thanks to his running ability, he’ll have a lot of goal-line carries and passes for fewer yards than the average NFL quarterback—so his addition is a remarkable one. Promotion will not be of imaginary value to any specific Panthers player.

DJ Moore is still a fantasy WR2 and Christian McCaffrey is still a fantasy RB1, whether Newton is at center or not. Robbie Anderson and Teres Marshall aren’t reliable enough to be fantasy-relevant receivers. And the Panthers don’t have any tight ends to roster in anyway.

Is back

Tom Pelicero is reporting that Cam Newton and the Panthers have agreed terms to bring the veteran quarterback back to Carolina.

A deal has been reached just hours after news of the Panthers meeting Newton was received. Newton’s availability for this Sunday’s game against the Cardinals is not yet known, but he has toured almost the entire camp with the Patriots this season and will hopefully still be in good shape. Newton was first drafted by the Panthers in 2011. Last year was the first year he played anywhere other than Carolina. He started 2020 with a bang, fueled by an overwhelmingly fast touchdown rate. At 32, he probably won’t do as quickly as he did early in his career. But Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore, Robbie Anderson, Teres Marshall Jr., and Tommy Tremble set them up for some success. Newton must add to the two-quarterback and Superflex leagues, but should probably remain on the exemption strings in the single-quarterback league for now.

Free agent quarterback Cam Newton is going back to the Carolina Panthers on a one-year deal, which he signed Thursday morning. The reunion will give the 32-year-old quarterback another chance to return to his MVP form with an organization he knows all too well.

Unsurprisingly, Newton planned to wear his familiar jersey number to try to recreate the magic of his first stint with the Panthers.

According to the roster page on Carolina’s team website, Newton will don the No. 1 jersey for the rest of the year. The 2015 MVP will reunite with the Panthers on a one-year deal worth up to $10 million and $4.5 million in full guarantees.

Will Start

The Arizona Cardinals will face the Carolina Panthers in Week 10. The Panthers made one of two big moves in the NFL on Thursday. They agreed a deal with quarterback Cam Newton to make him their starting quarterback for the rest of this season.

Newton returns to the team that drafted him for the first time overall in 2011.

Panthers starter Sam Darnold suffered a fracture in his scapula so far this season and is set to miss several games. It appears that he will not return to the starting lineup once he recovers.

However, nothing changed for the Panthers at quarterback this week. Newton will not start this week.

PJ Walker will still start this weekend and Matt Barkley will support him. By the time he learns the offense and prepares for the second half of the session, Newton will be inactive.
