It appears that Rams running back Cam Akers is back in the doghouse.

Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reports that Akers will be inactive for Sunday’s game against the 49ers. Akers is not injured and is being considered a coach’s decision.

Glazer also reported that the Rams would like to trade Akers and have contacted other teams in an attempt to remove Akers from the roster. Akers requested a trade last season as he was unhappy with his role and spent several weeks away from the team before the trade deadline before returning when no deal was made.

Akers rushed 22 times for 29 yards and a touchdown in last week’s win over the Seahawks. During his career he has 360 carries for 1,443 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Whats going on with

Akers is healthy, and will reportedly miss the game due to a coach’s decision. According to Glazer, other teams believe Akers is on the trade block. Akers appeared to have no idea what was happening, saying on social media that he was confused. It’s another disappointing development between Akers and the Rams.

Week 2

Cam Akers’ future with the Rams is in question again after the running back was given a healthy scratch for Sunday’s game against the 49ers.

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports was the first to report that Akers would be inactive and said the Rams are trying to move Akers in a trade.

This is not the first time that L.A. considered trading the Florida State product, doing so before last season’s trade deadline, but held on to Akers when he didn’t get a good enough offer.

According to The Athletic, that situation may have been caused by miscommunication about Akers’ role.

It seems that based on Akers’ public reaction to the news, communication went awry here as well.

“I’m as confused as everyone else,” he tweeted Sunday with a shrugging emoji. “I’m blessed though.”

Akers rushed for 786 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

Rumors

It appears that Cam Akers’ time in Los Angeles has officially come to an end.

Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reports that the Los Angeles Rams have deactivated the running back for the team’s Week 2 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.

Glazer explained that the move was not due to any injury but was the coach’s decision. This comes after Akers had 22 carries for 29 yards and a touchdown in the Rams’ Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Akers specifically requested a trade in 2022 and spent several weeks away from the team before the deadline. He returned to the team and threw for 786 yards and seven touchdowns on the season.

With Akers hitting the market, he could be an option for teams that need a quality tailback. The 24-year-old has gained 1,443 yards passing in his career and could potentially thrive at the new position. His seven touchdowns in 2022 are promising despite the uncertainty of his status, especially since he finished the season with three straight games of over 100 rushing yards.
