After the 16th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners became the second Big 12 football team to win post-season on December 29, it looked like we might hear more about the future of breakout freshman quarterback Caleb Williams at Norman. It was speculated that Williams’ future with the Sooners at Norman could be in jeopardy after former Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley was bolted to the USC Trojans job last month.

Still, Williams made it through the bowl season with the Sooners. But it still appears that Williams is undecided about his future at Norman, following the Alamo Bowl’s two-figure victory over the No. 14-ranked Oregon Ducks out of the Pac-12 on December 29.

In a postgame press conference with Williams following his 47-32 win over the Ducks at the Alamo Bowl earlier this week, the former elite five-star quarterback recruit didn’t mention anything concrete on his future at Norman. In fact, it is easy to feel that he left the door open for his future as he may still be unsure of where he will be in 2022.

Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams shocked the college football world with his announcement that he was entering the transfer portal, coach Brent Venables and athletics director Joe Castiglione issued a statement.

“Caleb Williams enjoyed an exciting and impressive first season at the University of Oklahoma and we will continue to engage with him and his family on a comprehensive plan for his development as a student and a quarterback, including a path to graduation and strategic leverage. Contains Zero Opportunity,” the statement read.

Oklahoma’s Caleb Williams, one of the top college football quarterbacks of the 2021 season, has entered the transfer portal.

Williams announced her decision to enter Portal on Monday, a move that isn’t a huge blow considering Williams coach Lincoln Riley left Sooners for USC. In fact, Williams — who became the second Sooners quarterback to enter the transfer portal this season after Spencer Rattler — referred to that reasoning in his announcement

Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams announced on Monday afternoon that he planned to enter Portal. Although he didn’t rule out a return to Sooners, the highly procrastinated freshman explained that he’d like to look at other options available to him.

“I guess we all come to college to find our own way to prepare for the future. I came to Oklahoma with a game plan, but what all the recent changes, I need to figure out what lies ahead for me. What is the right path to grow,” Williams wrote in a statement posted on Twitter. “As a student-athlete by NCAA rules, I can talk with other schools and see what my future holds. The best preparation and development one can do for a career in OU is to enter the portal. Staying in OU will definitely be an option as I start the process
