On “Good Morning America,” Williams explained that he drew the messages because of his mother.

“My mother was my inspiration,” he said. “I mean, ever since I can remember, she’s been doing nails. And she’s always been doing it. I think she’s always been doing it since she was probably 14. So , that was sometime before I was born. And it’s been like that since I was born, she’s been doing that. I’m always sitting around or just you know, either playing my game or I’d fuck my mom, I’m still fucking my mom a lot. So I was playing my game, messing with my mom and just sitting there she always did my nails. I fucked her. Didn’t apply paint, but she always did that.

Williams had actually been doing this throughout the season, but not before with every team he played. When USC beat Colorado they used the “F—cal” polish, which sounded extremely insulting. Against Washington State, he painted suicide and crisis life lines on his nails. In fact, the profanities came late in the year, as they were often designed at the beginning of USC’s season.

Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams has a significant arm. The USC Trojans quarterback handles the ball in every game, and Williams always makes sure his hands are on the television.

If you watch any USC game, you’ll notice that Williams always has her nails painted. It may be an unusual sight on a football field, but Williams doesn’t mind standing out, and her nails are a way to represent her mother.

Last year, Williams talked to USC legend Matt Leinart about his gameday tradition. Williams said her mother has worked as a nail technician her entire life, and she loves being a trendsetter.

“I would say it started about three years ago,” Williams said. “It was my last year of high school. My mom does nails. Let’s start here. She’s done it my whole life. It’s always been around for me. No one else does it .I just like to do new things.”

Against Michigan, C.J. Following Stroud’s poor performance, Williams became a strong contender for the Heisman. He responded by leading USC to a big win over Notre Dame, scoring four touchdowns, three of them rushing.

During that contest, alert spectators noticed something interesting about the QB in victory: Williams had painted a simple — but poignant — message on his nails: “F—NDXX.”

At the Pac-12 championship game against Utah, which ultimately ended in a USC loss, Williams again had “F—Utah” painted on her nails.
