Pinson Valley High School senior Caleb White suffered a medical emergency at school. Life-saving efforts were initiated at the school and White was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The incident is of late morning. Principal Michael Turner announced the student’s death in a note sent to parents, which was later shared with the media.
Vaccinated
Caleb White, a talented basketball athlete who was ranked No. 3 in the state of Alabama and No. 43 in the entire nation, reportedly died at the age of 17 after collapsing on the basketball court on Thursday, August 10.
Pinson Valley High School senior Caleb White was training with his teammates when he collapsed at 1:12 p.m., according to multiple reports citing the teen’s grandfather, George Varnado. on Thursday. In a Facebook post, White’s grandfather said that life-saving measures were performed in court until paramedics arrived and transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
White officials have yet to confirm the cause of death, with Varnado saying his grandson died of heart failure. Since the cause of White’s death has not yet been revealed, there has been speculation on social media that the incident was caused by adverse side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine. One social media user said:
“What’s up with the basketball players? Have they got different dosages.”
Cause of death
Caleb’s mother, Charlotte White, said doctors told him the cause of death was cardiac arrest.
“It was devastating because they were working on him, giving him chest compressions,” said Charlotte. Then they called it and that’s it. They said it was cardiac arrest.”
Rivals
White was an outstanding three-star basketball prospect for Pinson Valley High School, averaging 20.9 points, 3.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. His cause of death is currently unknown, but an autopsy will be performed on Friday.
His family said that during practice, White began to feel sick and fell to the ground. Life-saving procedures were implemented until paramedics arrived. White was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent East Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.
Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said White was pronounced dead at the hospital. His older brother, Cam White, posted a tribute on Facebook following the news.
