Court:
Former Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings forward Caleb Swanigan was arrested early Wednesday in Indiana and preliminarily charged with marijuana possession.
Justin L. Mack of the Indianapolis Star reported Swanigan, an Indianapolis native, he was booked in Whitley County Jail at 3:05 a.m. local time and bonded out at 4:45 a.m. His first court date in the case is scheduled for Monday.

Caleb Swanigan, the former Indiana high school and Purdue university basketball standout who played in the NBA, has died. He was 25.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office confirmed to WANE that Swanigan died of natural causes.
Arrest:
Swanigan, 23, was arrested pulled over around 2 a.m. on Dec. 23, 2020, on eastbound U.S. 30 by Columbia City Police. During the stop, police found 3.4 pounds of marijuana in Swanigan’s vehicle, as well as $3,415 in cash and some drug paraphernalia.
Swanigan was arrested and booked into the Whitley County Jail. He was released on bond.
In court Monday, Judge Douglas Fahl said he was concerned about the large amount of marijuana Swanigan was found with, but he accepted the plea agreement as written because Swanigan was a first-time offender.
How died:
He died due to natural causes.
Swanigan was adopted as a child and had shared how he had experienced homelessness. He also spoke openly about his experience with childhood obesity and his work in the community with FoodCorps, a national organization that puts healthy food in schools.
According to the Allen County Coroner’s Office, a doctor signed the death certificate noting Swanigan died of natural causes Monday at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. No other details were provided.
