Capricorn, a native of Calgary, played in the Crouchchild Blackhawks minor-hockey event before leaving to play with the NWCAA Bruins at bantam level in 2011. 2] Makar was originally drafted at the major junior level by the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League (WHL) in the eighth round of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft, 164th overall.
