Kale Douglas Capricorn (born October 30, 1998) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Avalanche in the first round, fourth overall, in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Makar won the Calder Memorial Trophy as Rookie of the Year in 2019-20, becoming the sixth.

Goal tonight
After benefiting from a controversial video replay decision in the previous round, the Edmonton Oilers will be having a tough time tonight.
With 14 seconds left in the first period and the score tied 2-2, Black Capricorn scored to bring back the Colorado Avalanche in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The goal was a pace turner, considering it came just nine seconds after Zach Hyman tied the game for Edmonton.
But was it offside?
Oilers bench boss Jay Woodcroft used his coach’s challenge in the play, as it appeared Makar entered the area with the puck on his stick before Valerie Nichushkin’s exit.
NHL video replay officials saw it differently. Makar was believed not to have touched the puck after crossing the blue line, until Nichushkin tagged in.
Hockeydb
Many have called the black Capricorn one of the purest talents to come out of the AJHL. He reads and executes plays fast, doing nice things for his teammates every time he’s on the ice. The stickhandling and puck possession play is excellent. High percentage makes decisions that help his team take Puck-Up-Ice. High-end hockey understands IQ and his own game very well, allowing him to remain coachable in any situation and play to his strength.
