Cain Ramírez Velásquez [4] (born July 28, 1982) is an American professional wrestler and retired mixed martial artist, [5] currently appearing for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). He is widely known for his time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where he competed in the heavyweight division and became a two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion. In 2019, Velasquez retired from mixed martial arts. That same year, Velásquez began a professional wrestling career, first working for Mexican Lucha Libre promotion AAA before moving to the American WWE promotion. Attempted murder
Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is facing a charge of attempted murder. The San Jose Police Department confirmed in a statement that Velasquez was arrested Monday night in San Jose, California, after allegedly shooting someone.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Velasquez opened fire on a vehicle that was carrying a man who had recently been accused of molesting a close relative of the former champion. According to the police, the man who was hit by the bullets was the stepfather of the accused and is expected to survive.
Velasquez is being held at the Santa Clara County Jail without bail and is set to appear on Wednesday.
“The motive and circumstances of this incident are currently being investigated,” the statement said.
Velasquez (14-3) has long been regarded as one of MMA’s greatest stalwarts, a distinction he would have made on his own if not for the many injuries that derailed his career. Velásquez scored a perfect 9–0, which included a first-round knockout from Pride and UFC legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, defeating Brock Lesnar via TKO in the first round to capture the UFC Heavyweight Championship. He stumbled in his first title defense against Junior dos Santos, but he reclaimed the championship against Dos Santos and defeated his opponent in his trilogy.

(CNN) Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was arrested in connection with a shooting in the Bay Area of California, police said.
According to the San Jose Police Department, the victim was taken to a local hospital on Monday with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said in a tweet that Velasquez was held in the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and was still there on Tuesday. CNN has reached out to Velasquez and his manager for comment. It is not clear whether he has retained a lawyer.
