Hurt
Arizona Cardinals All-Pro Safety Budda Baker was escorted off the stable on the backboard after a terrifying collision.
Budda Bakera was injured while trying to take down the Los Angeles Rams, who backed the Cam Acres, in the open field. The four-time pro bowler fell short in an attempt to tackle the LA ball career.
Unfortunately, Akers lowered his shoulders and head in an attempt to absorb the blow, and he and Baker added helmet-to-helmet. Upon replay, it appeared that the Arizona defender was immediately knocked unconscious.
Injured
The final wild-card round game of the season between the Rams and Cardinals took a sinister turn late in the third quarter. Cardinals safety Budda Baker fainted after suffering a head injury and had to be taken off the field.
Running behind Cam Acres after tackling the Rams, Budda Bakera went down, taking a shoulder to the side of the head. His Arizona teammates immediately noticed that he was not conscious and signaled the coaches to come on the field.
Baker could be seen waving his arms before leaving for the car’s locker room. After the Cardinals announced via Twitter that he retained feeling and movement in all his limbs, he was diagnosed with a concussion and ruled out for the rest of the game.
What happened to
Budda Bakera is one of the most electrifying defensive talents in the NFL. During a 34-11 wild-card loss on Monday against the Los Angeles Rams, Baker suffered an injury in the first quarter.
The injury occurred when Baker attempted a tackle on the Rams running back Cam Acres. Baker went after the back head-on and remained down on the ground for a long time before giving a thumbs up as he exited the field.
Collision
Cam Akers fought hard for the Los Angeles Rams against the Arizona Cardinals all night, but his physicality resulted in a scary collision with Budda Baker at the end of the third quarter. Akers ran the ball to the left on second and second, picking it up 11 yards.
Budda Bakera lowered his shoulder into Baker at the end of the run, leaving the Cardinals’ defense almost immobile on the field. Trainers immediately attended to Baker and he was eventually pulled off the field, taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Akers was seen turning to Baker when he returned to the huddle after a play, which Cardinals players considered an exception.
Hit
Budda Bakera went down for the hit and Akers lowered his helmet, leaving Baker in the head and neck area.
After the game, Baker remained motionless on the field and had to be taken off on a stretcher.
The team announced that he had suffered a concussion and would not return, but that he was experiencing movement and feeling at his peak.
Later the team gave an update. Baker was taken to a local hospital for observation, was a communicative alert and at no point did he lose the spirit or agitation of the medical staff per se.
