Brian Paul Barberena (born May 3, 1989) is an American mixed martial artist currently fighting in the welterweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. A professional competitor since 2009, he has also competed for King of the Cage.

Brian Barberena is happily married to his wife Diana Barberena.

Diana is also his long time girlfriend. The couple met during their senior year of high school and eventually married in 2011. Though not much is known about their married life, it is still believed to be on good terms.

Looking at the fighter’s social media handle, it seems that he enjoys spending time with his family. His wife Diana is known to be a very supportive wife. As of now no dispute has been reported.

Brian Barberena was forced out of the UFC Vegas 14 bout against Daniel Rodriguez after he had to undergo an emergency exploratory laparotomy. Laparotomy is a surgical incision in the abdominal cavity. Also known as ciliotomy, this is usually done to examine the abdominal organs and to aid in the diagnosis of any problems.

Barberena had 1.5 liters of blood in her abdomen, reportedly due to internal bleeding from a couple of broken arteries. The news was announced on his Instagram page:

“Bryan had an emergency exploratory laparotomy due to internal bleeding from a couple of ruptured arteries in his omentum. He had 1.5 liters of blood in his abdomen. Brian’s surgery was successful. He is having pain, which is to be expected, but he Is doing well. The doctor said that because he is young and healthy, he will recover quickly. Unfortunately, due to surgery, Brian will not fight on November 14.”

Barberena began his professional mixed martial arts career in late 2009 with an amateur record of 1–0. Over the next five years, he trained primarily at the MMA Lab in Arizona and set a 9-2 record for promotions such as the Dakota Fighting Championship and King of the Cage; All but one of his victories came before the final bell.
