Retiring
Anyone who takes on Clemson cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. in the 2022 NFL Draft next month may have to wait a bit before seeing his latest prospect on the field. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the 21-year-old recently underwent sports hernia surgery. Booth’s procedure was done in Philadelphia and is expected to be ready for the start of training camp. He did not undergo practice at the NFL Scouting Combine, citing a quad injury.
While this injury may have altered Booth’s ability to stay on the field in the early stages of the off-season program, the fact that he is expected to be ready for training camp suggests that the injury will not affect his rookie season much. .
Booth is currently expected to be ranked third in this draft class of CBS Sports and likely ranked 16th overall. Of LSU, only Derek Stingley Jr. and Cincinnati’s Ahmed Gardner are above him in the rankings, and Booth is widely predicted to come off the board in the first round. In his latest mock draft, CBS Sports senior NFL draft analyst Ryan Wilson is landing the booth with the New England Patriots, who own No. 21 overall.
