The Brooklyn Marathon is a NYCRUNS race that began in 2011. Originally held in the fall with laps around Prospect Park, it returned in 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic with a new course, Which travels from Williamsburg to Prospect Park and a half marathon is added on the same day. Planning for a new curriculum was first started in 2013.

The iconic new route begins in hip North Brooklyn and winds around the waterfront, providing you with eye-popping views of Manhattan, across historic Williamsburg, Manhattan, and under the Brooklyn Bridge. From there, the route leads to the grand concourses of Fulton Street.

More than 20,000 runners are taking to the streets on Sunday for the 10th annual Brooklyn Marathon and Half Marathon, which is being run on a new course this year.

This means, however, that there are tons of roads closed to accommodate the 26.2-mile run. The route begins in Williamsburg’s “hip North Brooklyn” (their words) neighborhood, snakes through the waterfront giving “eye-popping views of Manhattan”, continues through Crown Heights and Gravesend and then ends in Prospect Park. it happens.

Non-runners will be affected by parking changes and closed roads. The closures will be done in waves to accommodate the different stages of the runners and will start at 1 a.m. on Sunday and last until about 2 p.m.

Portions of major thoroughfares including Bedford Avenue and Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Flushing Avenue near the Navy Yard, Front St and Water St, Flatbush Avenue including various streets in Prospect Heights and large parts in Dumbo will be closed. Eastern Parkway and Ocean Parkway. (A complete list is available here.)

Marathon organizers say participants are “strongly recommended” to take public transportation. And non-runners will have access to the so-called “cheer zone,” so bring your pom-poms and feel relieved your feet won’t feel like crap on Monday.
