LeBron James has a message for all 30 teams in the NBA: Anyone who wants him for his final season must draft his son Bronie in 2024.

“My last year will be played with my son,” James told Jason Lloyd of The Athletic at the NBA All-Star Game in Cleveland. “Wherever Bronie is, I’ll be there. I’ll do whatever it takes to play with my son for a year. It’s not about the money at the time.”

Bronie is a 6-foot-3 junior guard at Sierra Canyon outside of Los Angeles. He turns 19 in 2023, but won’t be eligible for the NBA draft until 2024 under current rules. A mock draft currently has him as a late first round pick. The NBA would need to abandon its current one-and-a-half rule and allow players to go from direct preparation to pros by 2023 if Bronie entered the draft that year. In 2003 LeBron went straight from high school to the NBA and was the Cleveland Cavaliers’ No. 1 overall pick.

Bronie is learning that the hard way, as anyone and everything he does becomes news. The Lakers star’s son is projected to enter the NBA within the next few years, and so the ‘talk’ around him continues to grow.
