It appears that Brock Lesnar has left WWE SmackDown, which reports are responding to the news that Vince McMahon has officially announced his retirement from WWE. Earlier on Friday, Vince posted on Twitter that at the age of 77, it was time to retire from his active duties in WWE. Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan were named co-CEOs of WWE and Lesnar left SmackDown after word broke.
It’s unclear whether he moved on or is legitimately angry about the news and is trying to protest, but Brian Alvarez is reporting, “Brock’s line was somewhat derivative,” if he Gone, then I went.
This is a big deal for WWE if Lesnar is upset by the developments behind the scenes and as it relates to the executives’ roles in the company. SummerSlam is around the corner and Lesnar was unquestionably ready to face Roman Reigns in the main event of the Unified WWE Universal Championship. It’s too early to speculate if this might affect the pay-per-view, but if Lesnar isn’t actually on Friday Night SmackDown, it’s not illogical to assume that WWE has to go ahead with the biggest WWE event of the summer. According to Brian Alvarez of Wrestling Observer, multiple sources said Brock Lesnar left TD Garden in Boston hours before the scheduled start of Friday’s episode of SmackDown.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp confirmed the report and said that Lesnar was described as “outraged”.
Alvarez followed up with a report that Lesnar referred to McMahon, something to the effect of “if he’s gone, I’m gone.”
