Brock Alan Bowers (born December 13, 2002) is an American football tight end for the Georgia Bulldogs. Born into an athletic family, Bowers had a stellar high school career at Napa High School in Napa, California, and was named to the All-American Bowl as a senior. A four-star prospect coming out of high school, he was heavily recruited by major college programs, ultimately deciding to play at the University of Georgia under head coach Kirby Smart. Bowers made an immediate impact in his first season with the Bulldogs, setting the program record for single-season receiving touchdowns and was named the 2021 SEC Freshman of the Year. He won the John Mackey Award as the nation’s best tight end the following season. Bowers is a two-time national champion with the Bulldogs, winning in 2021 and 2022.

What happened to
Brock Bowers left the last game against Kentucky in the same manner and entered the injury tent for Georgia. The star TE was seen limping almost immediately after another touchdown reception from quarterback Carson Beck during Georgia’s possession of the second quarter.
Luckily, Brock Bowers walked out of the injury tent without any apparent problems. He immediately returned to the game with his left leg bandaged and continued to perform brilliantly. Bowers had over 100 receiving yards for the third consecutive game, further demonstrating his importance to the team.
His fate in this game is unknown, given the fact that it appears to be more serious than the Kentucky game. Bowers’ disappointment after coming on the field suggests it could be a serious matter, but we are awaiting the medical team’s assessment.
Before the Vanderbilt game, Bowers had recorded 37 receptions for 545 yards and four touchdowns for the Bulldogs. The long-term injury will certainly be a blow for Georgia as they aim to capture their third consecutive national championship this season.
Injury status
No. 1 Georgia lost Brock Bowers with a left foot sprain against Vandy. NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) — Preseason All-American tight end Brock Bowers injured his left ankle midway through the second quarter against Vanderbilt on Saturday, keeping him out of the rest of No. 1 Georgia’s game.
Injury update
The Georgia crowd went silent this Saturday as star tight end Brock Bowers limped off the field after suffering a sprained left ankle against the Vanderbilt Commodores. Bowers was then taken to the locker room and did not return.
After the game, head coach Kirby Smart provided an update on the status and severity of Bowers’ injury.
“Ankle sprain. I don’t know how serious it is.” Smart also noted that the X-rays were negative, and that it initially looked like a low ankle sprain but would not be diagnosed until later.
Bowers and the rest of the injured Bulldogs will try to take advantage of the bye week to rest their injuries before traveling to Jacksonville, Florida for their annual meeting against the Florida Gators.
