Brittney Yevette Griner is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury of the Women’s National Basketball Association. She played college basketball for the Baylor Lady Bears in Waco, Texas. She is the only NCAA basketball player to both score 2,000 points and block 500 shots.

Brittney Griner’s Parents are Raymond and Sandra Griner. Her father is a retired sheriff while her mother is a homemaker.
Britney Griner was born on 18th October 1990 to Raymond and Sandra Griner in Houston, Texas. She grew up alongside three older siblings: DeCarlo, Shekera, and Pier.
Ray was a military veteran who served in Vietnam and became a Harris County sheriff. Britney told ESPN she enjoyed watching military films with her father and sowing with Sandra.

Griner earned $227,000 during her latest season with the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA, the maximum salary allowed in women’s professional basketball in the US. As such, many players have decided to look overseas to augment their salary.
Griner, a 31-year-old Houston native who plays professional basketball for the Phoenix Mercury, was detained on Feb. 17 at Sheremetyevo International Airport in Khimki as she returned to Russia to play during the WNBA’s offseason after she was accused of having vape cartridges containing hashish oil, which is illegal.

Baylor freshman Brittney Griner first became nationally famous for a YouTube video that showed her going through a variety of dunks in practice as a junior at Houston’s Nimitz High School. The video has gathered more than four million views on YouTube.
Griner has now taken her highflying abilities to Waco, where she is currently throwing down slams for coach Kim Mulkey.
Griner had two dunks Saturday night against Texas State, including a two-handed slam on a fast break that sent the home crowd at the Ferrell Center into a frenzy.
