Brett Arnold Bielema is an American football coach. He is currently the head football coach at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Fired
Bielema was fired after his fifth season with the Razorbacks. He served as a consultant for the NFL’s New England Patriots in 2018 and a defensive line coach in 2019 before taking a job as an outside linebackers coach for the New York Giants.
Arkansas fired Brett Biellema right after the game as their players were shattering and leaving.
Record at Arkansas
The Patriots hired former Badgers coach Brett Biellema as an advisor. Bielema was fired by Arkansas after posting a 29–34 record in five seasons.
On November 24, 2017, Bielema was fired after five seasons as head coach of Arkansas following a 48–45 loss at home to the Missouri Tigers. The Razorbacks took the lead of 14 twice, but lost both leads. After the game, Belema told reporters that he was told he was fired when he was coming off the field.
Contract
There will now be no trial and no reason for the Patriots’ information to come out, as Arkansas will pay Bielma another $3.5 million, and it will free Arkansas from the $3.9 million it owed under the terms of its Arkansas contract. Bielema is now head coach at Illinois
