Reports came through after Sunday Night Football that the knee injury sustained by Dolphins wide receiver Braxton Berrios during the loss to the Colts would cause Berrios to miss extended action with the team indeed confirming that via a roster move on Monday.

The Dolphins informed the media that Berrios has been placed on the Injured Reserve List. He is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of four games although his rehabilitation will more than likely take a significantly longer time.

Berrios didn’t get a single catch in the first six games for the Dolphins this season, although he was used as a punt and kickoff returner for some of those games.

To cover the injury sustained by Berrios, the Dolphins have announced the activation of cornerback Cam Smith from the injured reserve list. Smith suffered a hamstring injury in August after appearing in 15 games last season.

This year the 29-year old Berrios renewed his one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins for the second consecutive season and will enter the market as a free agent in March. However, he played with the Patriots and Jets before.
